Information on life and activity of the prominent scientist, professor M. B. Gordon is provided in ar-
ticle. Separate stages of his course of life, the basis and development of Technology of Mechanical Engineer-
ing department in ChGU of I. N. Ulyanov are noted. The scientific directions of researches developed by M.
B. Gordon are noted. The practical importance of the executed researches for science and production is re-
flected.
Theoretical studies based on the main provisions of the theory of cutting of metals and technology
